Welcome To the FAQ

Now I have no idea what questions people are going to ask so I will update the site as they come in.

I will however explain how I see people should be uploading the files.

BASIC TEMPLATE

Wow look at the cool new junction. I wish i could share it with everyone. I think i should upload it to openttdexchange.

So I use my Copy & Paste Patch toolbar so copy what I want. (keep in mind it wont copy stations)

Now I select Save from the Copy & Patch toolbar to save what I just copied. (will save to c:\program files\openttd{version}\save\)

Now before I minimise openttd and upload this kickass piece of track I need to make a screenshot. So I make sure the piece of track I just copied is in the middle of my screen and I am at maximum {standard} zoom-in. I let openttd take a screenshot for me by going to the information icon and clicking screenshot. (will save to c:\program files\openttd{version}\)

Now is a good time to go an grab your favourite Zip/Rar compression program and zip up the template (good habit as some templates need several bits e.g station start/finish).

Now login to the website and choose upload. Give it a good subject and a decent description. Find where your zip/rar file containing the template is and select it. Then find the screenshot openttd made and select that. And hopefully the file should be uploaded and everyone can start using your wicked template.
